The Sport Fitness and Recreation Workforce Development Collaborative see the industry playing a critical role in developing and sustaining the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders. The group aims to integrate the efforts of industry to support this vision by:
promoting an understanding and recognition of the critical role the industry plays in addressing Queensland's health and wellbeing issues
creating a framework to attract, recruit and retain workers across and within the industry sectors
developing practices to ensure the long term sustainability and effectiveness of the role played by volunteers supporting the industry
fostering the industry's capacity to respond to current and future challenges.
Many of the organisations in the sport, fitness and recreation industry are not profit driven. They typically depend on volunteers and government funding to operate and represent the efforts of people whose motivation is not financial, but rather a passion for a particular activity and the perceived benefits that activity can bestow on participants.
