Strategy overview
The Mining Bowen Basin Skills Formation Strategy was formed to develop a holistic approach for the mining industry to ensure the timely development of a skilled and sustainable workforce that meets its needs.
Industry groups have been formed to enable the work of the strategy to continue, this work has had positive and effective results not only for the mining industry in the Basin but extends across the resources industry in both state and interstate boundaries.
Outcomes
- Developed a 'Supervisor Training Workshop'. The supervisor framework outlines the skill sets required for supervisors on site and provides a range of tools for the recruitment, training and coaching of supervisors on site.
- Careers DVD to showcase the diversity of roles available within the mining industry.
- The Alternative Apprenticeship Delivery Group is working in partnership with the Australian Technical College North Queensland (ATCNQ) to develop an alternative delivery model for electrical apprentices in Mackay.
