Strategy Overview
The focus of the Manufacturing and Engineering (Gladstone Region) Skills Formation Strategy (SFS) will be the supply chain to major existing and future industries in the sectors of:
- minerals / chemical processing
- mining services
- the emerging liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.
It is critical that key stakeholders in the Manufacturing and Engineering (Gladstone Region) SFS develop collaborative partnerships to identify a genuine, comprehensive response to attracting, recruiting, skilling and retaining workers in the area.
Regardless of today's economic climate, Gladstone will remain Queensland's premier heavy industry hub and a centre of excellence for light metals engineering and manufacturing. The region will need comprehensive workforce planning to ensure that industry will be maintained by skilled employees.
